Quiet UK

Welcome to Quiet UK. This has been a vision of mine for several years, but one I kept putting off because I didn’t want to launch it until it was perfect. But what is perfect? So, I’ve decided to launch this as a work in progress. My vision is for Quiet UK to be a not-for-profit organisation promoting quiet, supporting those with hearing health issues and sound sensitivities and working with other groups to quieten the human-made noise on our planet.

Over the coming weeks and months, I’ll be adding more content and sharing my goals and ambitions for Quiet UK. For now, I’ve added a couple of posts about reducing noise in your life, as well as my experiences with tinnitus and misophonia. I’ve also added a contact form so please share your experiences and suggestions for content you’d like to see.

Hearing therapy and what it’s taught me about tinnitus

Walking down a grey corridor in an unloved NHS community hospital, the curled edges of leaflets about coping with old age poking out of wire stands, I’m feeling a bit suspicious about how hearing therapy could help me. I enter a large room, peeling magnolia paint, tiny cell-like window, two chairs in the middle of…
